How rankings work

This is an estimated national strength ranking of the top 100 U17 boys teams. League-strength estimates: MLS NEXT Homegrown +0.40, ECNL Boys +0.25, MLS NEXT Academy +0.10 and ECNL RL Boys +0.00. These are Table & Pitch’s judgment, not measured cross-league results. They are frozen for the 2026–27 season.

Each rating is the team’s base rating inside its own league plus its league’s strength estimate. Without adj. is the place that team would have with no league adjustment. Holding opponents’ points per game and capped goal difference equal, a league-strength estimate is 70% of the points-per-game gap it can overcome, because points per game are 70% of the base rating. The board order follows the adjusted rating. The same number to two decimals shares a place, and the next place skips. Place without adjustment uses that same tie rule on the base rating. A team from a league with a smaller estimate can still rank above a team from a stronger league when its base rating is higher by more than the estimate.

A team needs 5 games inside its own league. The base rating is 70% points per game, 20% the opponents’ points per game, and 10% goal difference per game, capped at ±1.5. More on the method.
